Obituary
William Edward Doyle Sr passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, after a brief illness with cancer.
Bill was born in New Rochelle, NY on January 28, 1940, to James Arthur Doyle Jr and Elise Richardson Doyle.
After Bill graduated from high school, he had a long and varied career. In the 1960s, he worked at Technical Material Corporation installing marine radios; he became a ham radio operator with the call sign WA2HTD. In the 1970s he taught Electronics at New Rochelle High School for 13 years while also working as an officer for the New Rochelle Harbor Patrol during his summers off.
In 1981, Bill permanently moved to his summer home in North Egremont, MA to work as a manager at At-A-Glance in Pittsfield, MA, where he was valued for being an objective problem-solver. He also was a volunteer member of the Great Barrington First Responders. Bill, along with Kathy, Kelly, and Chris, moved to Otego, NY when At-A-Glance was sold to Keith-Clark and spent many great years there working with the Otego Emergency Squad and Fire Department. After retiring from Keith Clark, Bill and Kathy moved to Crown Point, NY– a place near their favorite camping spot at Bulwagga Bay. They purchased a home on Lake Champlain where they could have all the children and grandchildren visit yearly and to enjoy their passions: the lake for Bill and land for Kathy’s gardens.
