On April 10, 2021, Wayne Simard passed away at the age of 77.

Wayne was born July 12, 1943 in Burlington, VT. to Albert and Martha (Hance) Simard. He enlisted in the US Marine Corp and served for 4 years. Wayne traveled to many countries during a Mediterranean Tour of Duty. He was stationed at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After service he worked for the NYS Dept. of Corrections as a correction officer. On August 27, 1966, he married Sheila Bobbie and they raised two sons, Wayne and Brian, and two daughters, Sonya and Danielle.

Wayne had a passion to trace his ancestry back on the Hance and Simard families. His research took him to Canada, as well as other US states. He was very proud of is Indian heritage and shared all of his research with his extended family.

Wayne was predeceased in death by his loving wife Sheila, his daughter Sonya, sons Robert and Albert, his parents Albert and Martha and siblings Gerald, Christine, Katherine, Connie and Lionel.

He is survived by his two sons, Wayne Jr. and Brian and daughter Danielle, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren, his brothers Al and Larry and sisters, Sandra and Mary Lou.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moriah Ambulance Squad, PO Box 72, Moriah Center, NY 12961. Due to Covid 19 there will be no calling hours. A private Christian Mass to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Moriah.
