Ward S. Hanchett

 

Ward lost his battle with cancer on August 26, 2020. Ward passed at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 2, 1949 to Jane (Gilbo) and Rufus (Jap) Hanchett.

Ward attended St. Patrick’s school, Moriah Central School and Albany Business College.

He was employed at BF Goodrich-UTC in Vergennes, Vt for 34 years.

Ward enjoyed watching his grandsons and the Moriah Vikings play basketball and football. He loved playing darts, golf and visiting with friends.

Ward was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.

Ward is survived by his wife of 47 years, Stephanie (Wojewodzic) Hanchett, his Daughters Jennifer Fleury (Corey), Becki Hanchett and son Ward Joseph (Boomer) Hanchett (Brandy). Ward is also survived by his brothers John (Linda) Hanchett, Tom (Karen) Hanchett, Edward (Kathleen) Hanchett, Jeffrey (Ginny) Hanchett and his sister Tina Hanchett-Gardner (Allen).

Ward is also survived by five grandsons who he was very proud of, Owen and Evan Fleury, Addison and Porter Hanchett and Carter Hanchett.

Ward was predeceased by his mother Jane (Gilbo) Hanchett, His father Rufus (Jap) Hanchett and his brother Douglas Hanchett.

A private mass for the family will be held at St. Patrick’s church in Port Henry on Wednesday September 2nd, 2020 at 11am. Masks are required.

At Ward’s request in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to High Peaks Hospice, 33 Tom Phelps Lane, Mineville NY 12956
