Timothy T. Tryon

WESTPORT - Mr. Timothy T. Tryon, 97, of Westport, NY died Sunday May 19, 2024 surrounded by his family at Elderwood of Ticonderoga after a long illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years Thelma (Jacquish) Tryon, his parents Theodore and Iva Tryon, his sister Mildred Jacquish and brother John Tryon.

He is survived by his Daughter Carol A. and husband Chester Welch, his Son Timothy W. and wife Karen Tryon, Grandchildren Melissa and husband Michael Kemp, Christopher and wife Bridget Dorman, Timothy W. Tryon,Jr, David and wife Tiffany Larson, and Janelle and husband James Alt. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Michael, Brenna, Aly, Evy, Xavier, Tony, James, Jackson and Jacob and his four Great Great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephew Thad and wife Crystal and their son Tyrel, his wife Ginny and their son Theodore Timothy whom he thought the world of.

A lifelong resident of Westport, he retired December 21, 1989 from the NY State Department of Transportation after 23 years. Prior to that he worked for EW Adams in Westport. Tim was a member of the Westport Hose Co. retiring after 37 years. He was also a long standing member of the Westport Fish & Game Club. A WWII veteran and proud of his service, Tim was so grateful he was able to go on an Honor Flight on October 3, 2015.

Together with Thelma he enjoyed country dances with all their friends, camping, hunting, fishing and he took great pride in the fact he cut his own firewood until he was 93. He also enjoyed maple sugaring, a task he passed on to his son-in-law Chet. Having time with family and friends was very special to him.

Tim’s family is grateful for the staff of Elderwood at Ticonderoga for the exceptional care he received there. The dedication to his well being is appreciated. We could see how much he was thought of and loved by the entire staff.

Calling hours will be held on Monday May 27th from 5-7 pm at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, NY. A burial and funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 28th at Union Cemetery in Port Henry, NY at 11:00am.
