Thomas C. Burroughs, of Crown Point NY, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, 11/08/2022, after reaching the age of 81 years old. Thomas was born on February 26, 1941 in Crown Point, NY to Thomas and Clara (Lavarnway) Burroughs. He was predeceased by his three siblings (Mary (Burroughs) Lewandowski, Harold Burroughs, and Delbert Burroughs).
He is survived by his loving wife Charlene E. (Carpenter) Burroughs of Crown Point, NY and his four children, Thomas Burroughs, Laurie (Burroughs) Kratzer and her husband Ernest, Michael Burroughs and his wife Victoria (Blowers), Mary (Burroughs) Beebe and her husband Leonard. His grandchildren, Mason, Taylor, Shelley, Samantha, Leonard, Adrian, and Mary Allison. His great grandchildren, Sophea, Adalyn, Audrey, and Harley. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
As a very young man Thomas learned to work hard and take on whatever job was available to support himself and his family, including farming and many mill jobs. He was an excellent provider.
Thomas loved all music and enjoyed listening to the radio, he especially loved the John Tesh, “Intelligence For Your Life” radio show. He was an avid reader and a life long learner. In his spare time, he enjoyed his pets, working on cars and tractors, and horses.
He never cared much about himself and was always more concerned with the care of his family. His greatest joy was spending time with them among a quiet country life. He was a good father who always did his best to take care of his children and to teach and guide them, a loving grandfather, and great grandfather to many. Thomas created a strong foundation for his family, was a good friend to all, and was always willing to help others.
A very special thank you to his nephews, Mark and Ronnie, and his great nephews, Travis and Nicholas, for helping support Thomas in his final months.
To most people the saying, they would give you the shirt off their back, is just a figure of speech. To Thomas, and those who knew him, it was a reality. He was a man that would truly give you the shirt off his back.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 13th from 5-7 pm at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 14th at 11:00 am at the White Church Cemetery in Crown Point.
