Theresa (Makvitis) Rodriguez, 85, of Bartlett Pond Road, Mineville, NY passed away March 26, 2025 at CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY.

She was the daughter of John and Anna (Vidkofsky) Makvitis born in Witherbee, NY on January 27, 1940.

Theresa graduated Mineville High School on June 1957 and then became secretary at Mineville High School and secretary of the new elementary school at Moriah Central School until she retired after 34 years of service. She knew most of the people and their children in the Town of Moriah.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph Rodriguez and their children, Judy, Joseph Jr., Lena (Mike) Aitner, Ann (Luis) Garnica and Lisa Rodriguez, her grandchildren Christopher, Mindy, Alyssa, Cara, Laura, Rainier, Denali and Joseph, great grandchildren Katelyn, Brooke, Brinley, Hailee and Aria, Sisters-in-law Carmen Burns, and Rosemary Stickles.

She was pre-deceased by her mother and father, baby sister, Cecilia, mother-in-law Lena (Scalzo) Rodriguez, brothers-in-law John Burns, Robert Stickles and special aunt, Gisele Scalzo.

Theresa enjoyed having the family at her house on any holiday, especially Christmas time. She loved going to any casino she could find. She had a passion for traveling with her husband, family and friends to include trips to Alaska, France, Hawaii, Missouri, Nevada, Grand Canyon, etc. She especially enjoyed her pilgrimages to the Shrine of Sainte Anne de Beaupre in Quebec, Canada.

Theresa also loved to fish in the Lake Champlain Derby’s with Mike and Lena on Mike’s pontoon boat, playing Scrabble, and Joey’s daily visits.

There will be no calling hours. A mass will be held on  May 5, 2025 at 11:00 am at All Saints Church in Mineville with a reception to follow at the Mineville V.F.W.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mineville V.F.W. Post 5802, North Country SPCA of Moriah Ambulance Squad.
