It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia McIntyre on January 14, 2026. Born on July 13, 1936, in Whallonsburgh, NY, Sylvia was the cherished daughter of the late Andrew N. Barnaby and Meirlda (Nolette) Barnaby.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, Robert (Jim) McIntyre, and her six children: Dan (Cherie) Drake, Jim (Stacy) Drake, Penny (Joe) Gilbo, Alice (Pat) Morrissey, Pamela (Scott) Munson, and Kevin (Lori) Drake. She also leaves behind her sisters, Alice Slater (Jim Dezalia), Irene (Jim) Hill, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Meirlda, sisters Imogene Frasier and Meirlda Trombley, and brothers Leo, Eugene, Richard, and Andy.
Sylvia was passionate about cooking, gardening, and canning. Her green thumb brought beauty to her home, especially through her beloved lupines. She found joy in sewing, crafting, working on puzzles, and was famous for her cheesecakes and homemade candy, which she generously shared with friends, neighbors, church members, and family.
Her family remembers her as a strong, resilient, and unstoppable force, facing every challenge with courage and dignity. Sylvia ended her journey as she lived it—full of strength and courage.
A Mass celebrating the life of Sylvia McIntyre will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Ticonderoga, NY, on Monday, January 19th, at 11:00 a.m. Following the Mass, family and friends are invited to gather at the church to honor Sylvia’s memory and share in fellowship.
The burial service will be held in the spring and will be a private ceremony attended by Sylvia’s immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Sylvia to High Peaks Hospice, 1247 Dix Ave, Hudson Falls, NY 12839, or through their website.
