Stella Mildon Obituary

Stella M. Mildon passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, at Elderwood in Ticonderoga, NY. She was born on August 18, 1938, in Mineville, NY to Andrew and Stella Pliscofsky. Stella married the love of her life, William E. Mildon, on May 3, 1958, while Bill was serving in the United States Air Force. They soon started a family and moved to Crown Point where they built their home on Pearl Street.

Stella soon got involved in the community by joining the Crown Point Fire Dept. as a volunteer fireman. As her boys started getting older, she became involved in Scouting as a Cub Scout Leader.  She became part of the Crown Point Youth Commission and was a well-known spectator at every sporting event. She knew every coach, umpire and referee in the area and didn’t mind telling them how to do their job.

Stella loved bowling and golfing. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women organization in Ticonderoga for many years. She loved to dress up as Frosty and Mrs. Claus for many events in the area. Stella was a lecturer at the Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point and a member of the Altar Rosary Society where she helped cook for the Harvest Dinner. Her faith was strong, and she passed that on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also served on the Essex County Republican Committee.

Stella loved politics and was involved in almost every election supporting her candidate. She was never at a loss for words when sharing her views. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with but had a heart of gold. She would help anybody and gave of herself unselfishly. She was always ready to cook or bake for any occasion - anything from her famous spaghetti sauce and pizza to her chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.

Stella’s greatest love was her family.  She was happiest when she was cooking for a house full of family. She would babysit whenever she had the chance. Stella loved her grandchildren and great children and shared her love of swimming with all of them teaching them how to swim in her pool. Many a day you would find her singing and dancing with the kids in the kitchen, and, of course, it was to country music.

She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Stella Pliscofsky; brothers Alex (Sonny) Pliscofsky, Andrew (Gump) Pliscofsky, Anthony (Snood) Pliscofsky, Moses Pliscofsky, Tom Pliscofsky; sisters Francais Benware, Mercianna Mauran, Jane Dumar; her husband,William E. Mildon; her son, William A. Mildon and her daughter Valerie Mildon.

Survivors include: Brother: William (Bea) Pliscofsky, Children: Karen F. Mildon, Pam (Rick) Norton, Steve (Judy) Mildon, Bob (Val) Mildon, and Mike (Karen A.) Mildon. She is also survived by grandchildren:  Josh (Kate) Mildon , Hayleigh (Mike) English, Matthew (Jen) Norton, Christina (James) St. Denis, Duke (Zoe) Mildon, Jake Mildon, Brooke Mildon, Briana (Griffin) Gilman, Chelsea McKiernan, Adam Mildon, Nick (Nicole) Mildon, and Travis Hunsdon. Great grandchildren include: Samantha O’Connor, Allie St. Denis, and Felicity Norton as well as her adopted great grandchildren Julia Lieber and Jimmy St. Denis.
