Ronald Gagnon Obituary

Ronald Gary Gagnon’s remarkable life journey, came to a close on February 26, 2025. Born on October 11, 1947, Ronald grew up in Witherbee, NY, along with a wonderful, loving family, including his parents, Raymond and Mae Gagnon, and his siblings. His dedication to serving his country led him to join the United States Air Force, where he honorably served from 1966 to 1972, including two tours in Vietnam. After his commitment to the USAF, he continued to serve numerous years in the Air Force Reserves. For many years, Ron was employed as an electrician, at Siena College, NY, where he met his closest friend, Don (Rosie), a friendship endured until Ron’s passing. Following his time at Siena, Ronald’s love for planes led him to a rewarding career at Scotia Air Force Base, NY, where he skillfully maintained C130-D airplanes. After retiring, Ronnie returned to his roots in The Adirondacks, spending the remainder of his days in Mineville, NY.

Notorious for his captivating storytelling and infectious sense of humor, he enjoyed a grand joke to keep everyone laughing. He had a love for camping, fishing, and travel, his best stories came from these experiences. He enjoyed assembling his model trains, watching classic movies, and was an ace at playing cards, especially Cribbage. Ronnie spent his life always tinkering; repairing, building or rebuilding, he could fix anything and relished a challenge.

Ronald is surpassed in death by his parents, Raymond and Mae, and his three brothers, Ray (Sonny), Walter and Earl. His legacy will live on in his three lovely daughters, Tawnaya, Sarah and Amy and five fantastic grandchildren, Zoë, Xander, Alexander, Conor and Caden. He leaves behind a special nephew, who was like a son, Raynard, his wife Robin and their two sons, RJ and Kyle. He is also survived by his two loving, protective sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) and Ella, and an incredible cousin and best friend, Sandy. Known as Uncle Ronnie, he will be missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
