WRIGHT, ROBERT F.

WESTPORT – Robert F. Wright, 73, passed away on June 6, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family at his side.  Born in Mineville on May 28, 1948; he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Wright.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1975.  He retired from the Town of Westport DPW after developing severe COPD.  He was a great provider to his family.  He enjoyed fishing trips with his grandson Trent, was a volunteer biddy basketball coach, a diehard NY Yankees fan, and possessed amazing carpentry and small engine repair skills.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Debbie; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jason Clark; grandchildren, Trent and Tessa Clark, and Brianna Carlson; great-grandson Isaac Vincent; great-granddaughter Everly Baker;  his brothers, Roger Wright,  Tom Wright, James Wright, and Norman Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parent, he was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Podmore and Shirley Allen; and six brothers, Charles Wright, Raymond Wright (Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient), Ernest Wright, Vernon Wright, John Wright, and Ralph Wright.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family and share memories at a Celebration of Life to be held June 19, 2 to 6 p.m. at the Mineville VFW.  Burial with full military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on July 9, with the procession beginning at 12:30 p.m.  If you would like to be part of the commencement ride to the cemetery, please be at the Westport Fairgrounds no later than 10 a.m.
