Crown Point
R. Bruce Russell of Crown Point, NY, died on July 22, 2020.
He was born on July 23, 1933 to Frank and Gertrude (Breed) Russell. He attended Crown Point Central School and graduated the Class of 1950. On May 12, 1962 he married Norma Bemis and they were married for 58 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was often the organist for his local branch. He was an accomplished organist and played humbly for many churches, weddings and funerals. He enjoyed genealogy and was very proud of his heritage. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He worked as an LNA at Helen Porter Nursing Home for many years. He was a member of the White Church Cemetery Association. He was a lifelong dairy farmer working on the family farm on Russell Street.
He was a quiet, private man who loved his family and found joy in their company. Anyone who knew him, knew he was kindhearted and gentle. He loved to tell stories of yesteryear and always said his “golden years” were when his children were young.
He is survived by his Wife, Norma Bemis, his children Alison, Glenn (Karen), Matthew (Alyson), and Andrew Russell; his grandchildren: Spencer, Zachary, Alex, Emily, Lily, Maia, Gilbert, Thomas, and Samuel Russell, and Sofia Mares; his sister Aileen (Lou) Laquadera and sister-in-law Ginger Russell. He was predeceased by his sisters Jean Russell and Lorraine Lapham and his brother James Russell. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the White Church Cemetery in Crown Point, NY.
