Robert L. Ross, 84 of Crown Point, NY lost his battle with cancer on January 22nd, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Bob was 1 of 14 children born to Albert and Eva (Coursey) Ross. Growing up he lived on Sugar Hill and attended school in Crown Point. After school, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. He was employed by International Paper Company for 36 years, a member of their Quarter Century Club. Bob was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
On May 22, 1987 Bob married Madeline Duval. Together they enjoyed camping, especially at Fish Creek Campsite and Monitor Bay Campground. They also spent the winter months at their home in Florida where they enjoyed meeting new people and having their loved ones visit.
Bob was a hard worker and even after his retirement from the mill he chose to work and stay busy. He was a Boy Scout leader for several years. For the past 15 years he was a park ranger at Monitor Bay Campground.
Bob had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. He liked to make people laugh and had an infectious smile. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Bob had many interests, some of which included hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved his old country music and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with family and friends. He was a die-hard Yankees fan and loved his Buffalo Bills.
Bob is survived by his wife, Madeline; His daughter, Laurie (Bob); Sons David (Marie) and Darren (Carole). His step-children include Sandie (Bruce) Rhodes, Gary Parot, Eric Thatcher, Mark (Allyson) Booth, Kim (David) Carr, Kristy (Bill) Scribner. He was a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Joe Ross, Gloria Tubbs, Carl (Debbie) Ross, Donna (Tom) Spaulding, sister-in-law Flavia Ross and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his son Daniel and infant daughter Michelle. And his siblings Wesley (Clara), Ernest (Edna), Richard (Bernice), Donald (Francis), Willis (Patty), Harold and Arnold Ross. Flora (Ken) Thatcher and Shirley (Allen) Beach.
Funeral services will be held in the Spring at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice 17 Tom Phelps Road Mineville NY 12956.
