Robert Pratt Obituary

Witherbee, NY

Robert T. Pratt, 89, of 11 Barton Hill Lane, Witherbee, NY died Friday, July 31st, 2020 at Elizabethtown Community Hospital.

Robert was born June 24th, 1931, the son of Joseph Pratt Sr. and Dorothy Pratt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Gloria Pratt; his beloved daughter Kathy Rogers; his grandchildren, Robert Whalen (Karen Almond), Joseph Whalen Jr. (Angie Wallace), Nicole Ward (Bill Ward Jr.); his great grandchildren, Taylor Whalen, Tanner Whalen, and Amelia Whalen; and his brother Walter Pratt (Barbara).

He is predeceased by his parents Joseph Pratt Sr. and Dorothy Pratt; his brothers Joseph Pratt Jr. and Arthur Pratt.

Robert, known by all as “Bob”, took pride in his work ethic, working many years for Republic Steel as a miner, Reale Construction as a laborer, and owning and maintaining many properties around town. However, some of his favorite jobs included the ones he did for free. This included taking the garbage, getting spring water, mowing lawns and shoveling snow for neighbors and family.

In the afternoons, Bob could often be found hanging out with his brothers and best friends, Art and Jim, at Jim’s house. Many arguments and solutions to the world’s problems were discussed on Jim’s porch. Bob truly struggled with being the last of the “Pratt Trio”, and was deeply affected by the passing of his brothers.

The final testament to Bob’s life is his family. Bob’s purpose in life was to ensure that his family was and would be taken care of. The wisdom and knowledge passed on to his family (including teaching them to drive) will live on through his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family of Bob Pratt would like to extend their gratitude to the friends, family, and nurses who helped to care for him in his final days.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, services will be private. His burial will be on Wednesday at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Moriah.
