Richard Skiff Obituary

Richard Skiff of Crown Point N.Y. passed away suddenly on December 15, 2021.  Richard was born in Moriah, N.Y. In the hamlet of Cheever on February 21, 1944 to Vernon and Leona (Pepper) Skiff. 

 

Richard graduated from Moriah school in 1962  Richard worked for International Paper Mill in Ticonderoga, N.Y. For 41 years before retiring in the spring of 2009.  After retiring Richard became known for his beautiful vegetable gardens of which he meticulously tended to every day. Richard enjoyed sharing his crops with his family and friends and neighbors and he loved when his grandchildren would work beside him in the garden on warm summer days. 

 

Richard was always looking after his family taking care of them. He enjoyed helping others and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for you if he was able to.  He loved his family and  his grandchildren more than anything on this this earth.  If Dylan, Kyle or Addie needed a ride they could call Poppy because he was always there.

 

 

Richard is survived by his loving wife Nina (Haskins) of 46 years, one  daughter and son-in-law Brandy and Corey James and three grandchildren  Dylan, Kyle and Addie James.  Brother -in-law Richard and Sue(Nephew) of Plattsburgh, N.Y. their children Heather and Rick Haskins of Plattsburgh, N.Y. Sister-in-law Patricia Haskins and Myron Knight of Huntington, VT, Sister-in-law Yvonne (Haskins) and Bryan Goodwin of Glens Falls and their children Kelly and Kevin DelSignore of San Diego, CA, and Kevin and Nikki (Beaudette) of Glens Falls, N.Y., several nieces and nephews, and close friends Tom and Penny Beach, Chris and Mary Taylor, Jim and Renee Merrill, Cathy and Tim Sprague and Ann Connors.

 

Richard was predeceased by his parents Vernon and Leona Skiff, Mother and Father in law Wade and Veda (Newville)Haskins, sister-in-law Linda Desjadon, brother-in-law Charles Desjadon sr, and  sister-in-law Lorraine Haskins 

 

There will be no calling hours per Richard’s wishes. A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2022 at the South Moriah Cemetery in Moriah, N.Y.  In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Moriah EMS.

 

Dad/Poppy will be missed by all who really knew him, but he will forever live on inside our hearts!
