Richard J. Maye, 83, of Crown Point, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020. He was born on December 1, 1936, the son of Richard and Katherine (Halaburda) Maye.
Dick served in the Armed Forces from 1956 - 1958. He was also a member of the Port Henry Volunteer Fire Department for many years, holding the position of Fire Chief from 1981 - 1983. After relocating to Crown Point, his dedication to public service continued with him holding the office of Crown Point Town Supervisor from 1994 - 1995.
Always having a love for fixing things, Dick owned and operated a used vehicle sales and repair shop. Perhaps his greatest “fix” was the completion of his Rolls-Royce Phantom roadster kit-car in 1992. He held a great appreciation for nature’s beauty; maintaining his property and caring for all of the wildlife that crossed it.
He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and enjoyed attending family gatherings.
Dick is survived by his sister, Anne (Curtis) McCoy of Schroon Lake; his sons, Richard (Teresa), Dennis, John, Gerald, Dwayne (Rose) and Mark (Debbie); his grandchildren, Jordan, Ricka, Samantha, Catie, Ashley, Megan, Mark, Maggie and Joe; his great-granddaughter, Aria Smith and several nieces and nephews.
Per his request, a graveside, family only gathering will be held.
