Raymond E. White

Raymond Edward White, age 83, of Interlaken, New York, passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on July 3, 2025. He never lost his independence and savored every moment of the sunlight in his garden on his last day.

Born on April 24, 1942, to the late Anthenette and William White, Ray was raised with a deep appreciation for hard work, faith, family, and tradition. He spent three years in seminary at St. Bonaventure University, nurturing a lifelong connection to his Catholic faith. He went on to earn an associate degree from Adirondack Community College and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves as a paratrooper in the 101 airborne division.

Ray worked for many years as a road construction foreman, a role that suited his practical nature and strong work ethic. He was a proud 50 year member of the laborers local 186. He was a man of quiet strength and simple pleasures. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, and tending to his garden with care and pride. A devoted reader of the local newspaper, always in its hard copy form, he liked to stay informed and connected to his community.

Ray had a deep love of learning, particularly about history, archaeology, and space. He was a passionate collector of National Geographic magazines, which he kept by the dozens and read cover to cover. He also had a deep interest in family lineage, preserving and sharing the stories that connected generations.

Ray deeply loved animals, especially his cherished pet dogs with a special place in his heart for Wilma, who rarely left his side.

He is survived by his children, Christine Belk (Daniel), Richard White, and Paula White; his beloved grandchildren, Caitlin Bingham (Gary) and Austin Belk; six siblings; Anna Bezon, Judy Brassard, Edward White, Joan Kilburn, Stephen White, and Thomas White; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.

A funeral Mass will be held at St Philip Neri Catholic Church in Westport, New York, on Friday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m.
