Moriah, NY
Pauline Mary (Koczur) Kudlacik, age 94, of Edgemont Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21. She was born in Port Henry, NY, on March 15, 1931, to Anthony and Michlinka (Wyrocki) Koczur. She married the love of her life, Leo Kudlacik, on May 6, 1951, and together they shared 71 wonderful years of marriage. Their relationship was a true example of love and devotion. They raised four children and were blessed with eight grandchildren who brought them endless joy. Pauline enjoyed ceramics, knitting, needlework, and making Christmas decorations. She also loved canning vegetables from the garden, making jelly, baking bread, and preparing Polish desserts and holiday treats. Her family holds fond memories of her playing her accordion on the porch during summer evenings, filling the air with music and laughter. Proud of her Polish heritage, Pauline loved hosting Wigilia, the traditional Polish Christmas Eve dinner, and attending Polish hops with Leo. She had a strong faith and was grateful for her twelve years of Catholic education. Pauline lived her faith openly and found joy in visiting various shrines. She was devoted to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, and she gave selflessly of her time, often serving as a caregiver to family members over the years. Pauline wanted the best for her children and placed a strong emphasis on schooling and education. She always told them to “strive for the stars” and instilled in each a drive to achieve. She loved working with them on school projects and encouraging their curiosity. Pauline is survived by her daughter Bernadette (Donald) Pierson of South Hero, VT; sons Edward (Susan) Kudlacik of Glenville, NY, and Paul (Christine) Kudlacik of Saratoga Springs, NY; and son-in-law Bill Infantolino of Vestal, NY. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Benjamin and Zachary Infantolino, Seth and Maria Pierson, and Nicholas and Christopher Kudlacik; her brother Gasper (Dee) Koczur; brothers-in-law Henry and Bernard Kudlacik; sister-in-law Joan Kudlack; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leo; daughter Wanda; grandsons Stefan and Ian Pierson; her parents; sisters Julie (Ralph) Wojewodzic, Josie (Alex) Gajewski, Veronica Koczur, and Carrie Koczur; and brothers John (Mary) Koczur and Peter (Anne) Koczur. The family will forever cherish memories of Mom’s fun and playful side — laughing as she fell off the snowmobile, skating on “rubber ice” at Russett Pond, and enjoying summer evening cookouts at Rosie Hole. She also had a competitive streak, especially when playing gin rummy or pinochle, and she loved being the first to throw water on the traditional Polish Easter Monday ritual, Śmigus-Dyngus. In recent years, Pauline’s children and in-laws lovingly cared for her, fulfilling her wish to remain at home. Her children are deeply grateful to their spouses for their patience and support, and to the caregivers who provided exceptional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pauline’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 26th from 5-7 PM at Harland Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 27th at 11:00 AM at St. Patricks Church, followed by burial at St Patrick Cemetery. The reception will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish Center following the burial.
