Patricia M. Sawyer

June 30, 1931- August 13, 2025

Pat lived a full and satisfying life surrounded by family and many heartfelt friends.

She was born to Milton A. and Sophronia Montena in Bakers Mills, NY. She married Maurice Sawyer in October 1949; they soon moved to Crown Point where they settled and raised their four children.

Pat taught at Crown Point Central School for over 25 years, finally retiring in 1990. After the passing of her husband, she became involved in many local organizations: serving on the board of the Hammond Library, working in the kitchen at the Methodist Church for their dinners, organizing and distributing food for the Crown Point Food Bank. In addition, Pat developed the travel “bug”, going on many of the senior bus tours, usually accompanied by her lifelong friend, Joyce Hill.

Patricia is survived by her sister Myrna Sawyer, her children Connie (Mark) Pereau, Carol Sawyer (Ken Coe), and Robert (Tammy) Sawyer, son-in-law Henry Woods, grandchildren Daniel M. Harris, Jessica (Alex) Bosarge, Jennifer Woods, Dustin (Ann) Sawyer, Erin Woods, and 12 great and great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Theresa Montena, and much thought of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Maurice Sawyer, her daughter Catherine Woods, and her brother Milton (Bud) Montena.

A funeral service will be held at the Methodist Church in Crown Point at 11:00, Monday, August 18 with interment immediately following in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Harland Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at the Moriah Country Club following the services.
