Norma G. (Mitchell) Fernandez

Norma G. Fernandez, 91, of Port Henry, NY passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born on February 7, 1934, in Schuyler Falls, NY. 

Norma is predeceased by her husband James A. Fernandez, her parents Laura Norton and Samual Mitchell, her sister Janice Bucell and brother Hermie Mitchell. 

She is survived by her sister Joyce (Carl: deceased) O’Kusky, her children, Deborah (Phillip) Smith, Patty (Steve: deceased) Allen, Cindy (Michael: deceased) Shpur, Donna (Tom: deceased) Kirsch, Diane (Bernard: deceased) McCormick, James (Brenda) Fernandez, Timothy (Laurie) Fernandez, and her granddaughters, Tara Michaels, Sophie Kirsch and Nichole Fernandez; her grandsons, Aaron, Andrew and Cameron Smith, Travis Shpur, Evan Allen and Hayden Fernandez; and many great grandchildren.

She worked at Mt. Lake Services for 25 years where she positively impacted the lives of countless individuals.

One of her favorite pastimes was spending time surrounded by her very large loving family and cooking meals for everyone. She enjoyed traveling whether it was on a Cruise or Casino trips. She also very much liked playing cards with her friends. She volunteered at the Food Pantry and greeting folks at the Port Henry Train Station.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 18th, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry.  Burial will follow at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Moriah.  A celebration of life will be held at the Mineville VFW immediately following.
