Nancy Java Obituary

Nancy Lee Java passed away January 18, 2023 in her own home in the care of her family.

Nancy was born to Ernest and Delvina Wathsock June 12, 1947.  She graduated from Schroon Lake Central School.  Nancy married Joseph Java in 1965, and the couple raised their family in Mineville, NY.

Nancy is survived by her daughters Amy (David) Theobald of Potsdam, NY and Kelly (Jeff) Farnsworth of Mineville, NY.  She was Grammie to Anna (AC) Mauran, Allyssa (Connor) Hardiman, Ellyn Farnsworth, Emily Theobald, Joseph Theobald and Katherine Theobald.  Sophia, Colton and Macie are cherished great grandchildren.

While she worked as a clerk for Essex County Dept of Motor Vehicles for several years she will instead be remembered for her many hobbies.  She and her husband, Joe, were involved in harness racing, both as horse owners and often serving as Clerk of the Course at many county fairs.  She baked and decorated cakes for many years, creating numerous wedding cakes.  She was quite well known for her delicious desserts and Halloween CrackJack style popcorn.  Goose Pasture Soap Factory was founded when she discovered the craft of soap making.  Selling soap at craft fairs lead to working with stained glass and painting.  During her illness, nurses would recognize her for the Christmas ornaments they purchased in the past years from her.

She was an artist at whatever craft she chose.  She enjoyed golf and spending time at the ocean.  Her backyard was an endless source of joy with flowers, berry bushes, chickens, dogs, swimming, sunshine and grandchildren.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 2002; her sister Patsy Venner in 2022, her brother Charles, as well as her parents.

As per her wishes there will be no calling hours.  A spring interment will be celebrated by her family.  Her daughters would like to acknowledge and thank High Peaks Hospice for their compassionate care in her last few days.  Donations could be made to High Peaks Hospice or the Mineville Witherbee Fire Department.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
