Moriah
Nancy A. Carr of Moriah, NY passed away May 12, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ticonderoga at her family home on Rabbit Run, the daughter of Albert and Blanche (Rafferty) Thompson.
Nancy married Rollin Carr on September 27, 1953.
Nancy graduated from Ticonderoga High School in 1950 at the age of sixteen. She worked for the DMV in Elizabethtown from 1973-1996. She was a volunteer with the Literacy Reading Program, volunteer at the library and greeter at the Port Henry train station.
Nancy loved to play cards, bird watching and was a NY Giants fan. She loved her cats Clarissa and shadow. She was a great cook.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Rollin Carr of Moriah and Robert Carr and fiancée Linda of Lyons Falls; daughter Deb (Carr) and Jim Simpson of Mineville; grandchildren Matt and Bill Carr of Moriah, Michelle Carter and partner Ryan of Arizona, Stacey Carr and partner Nate of Saratoga, brother Albert (Tom and Mary) Thompson, and daughter-in-law Helene Carr of Albany.
She is predeceased by her husband Rollin Carr, her parents Albert and Blanche (Rafferty) Thompson, her son Michael Carr, brothers, Stephen Thompson, John (Truus) and Joseph Thompson, sisters, Gloria (Jerry) Peeters, Geraldine Davis, Gwendolyn St. John, Marion Lindstrand and Pat Nadeau.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00 am the Mount Moriah Presbyterian Church in Port Henry. Burial will follow in the South Moriah Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Nancy may be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad. A special thank you to her daughter-in-law Kim Carr for all that she has done for Nancy.
