Mineville
Michael F. Slattery, 78, of Mineville, NY passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. He was born Nov. 28, 1941, the son of Rollin and Rosemond Slattery.
Mike was a veteran of the US Army and received the Army Commendation Award for Meritorious Service while serving in Vietnam from 1964-1965.
He was a former Town Councilman for the Town of Moriah, former member of the Mineville-Witherbee Fire Dept., was instrumental in helping establish the Town of Moriah Snowmobile Club and Winter Festival and snowmobile drags.
Mike enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping, photography and especially hunting with his boys and their friends and the stories he would tell. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren Makayla and Jacob. He was happiest when they were near him.
He worked several years as a driver for Anchor Motor Freight. Mike was in the insurance business in the area for many years. After retirement he worked for New York State D.E.C. at Crown Point and Paradox Lake.
Mike is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Hughes Slattery and two sons Michael of Mineville, NY and Craig and wife Kristi of Peru, NY and grandchildren Makayla Slattery and Jacob Slattery, Bryanna Brown. His family was his life and his memory will always be with us.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Moriah.
