Maurice (Moe) Albert Guerin, passed away at home on Monday September 4th, 2023. He was born on November 19, 1945, in Port Henry, New York, to his loving parents, Doralice and Albert (Joseph) Guerin. Moe, as he was affectionately known, led a life filled with love, dedication, and service.
Moe's journey began growing up in Port Henry, where he attended Port Henry High School and Moriah High School graduating in 1963. Driven by his passion for learning, he pursued higher education and graduated from Cobleskill College in 1965 with an Associate in Applied Science degree. Following college he was employed at Ticonderoga International Paper. It was during this time that he met his wife Bunny, and in 1967, he and his beloved wife embarked on a journey of nearly 56 years of marriage.
Moe's commitment to service extended to his country as well, as he served in the Army Reserves. However, it was as a proud member of the New York State Troopers that he truly found his calling. In 1970, Moe entered the New York State Troopers Academy, dedicating himself to the protection and service of his community. His unwavering dedication and hard work led to his promotion to Investigator in 1983. In 1991, after a distinguished career, he retired from the New York State Police Troop B Lewis Barrack, leaving a lasting legacy of commitment and integrity.
Retirement brought Moe the joy of spending quality time with his most treasured possessions, his grandchildren. He was a doting and devoted grandfather who spoiled them relentlessly, always ready to go above and beyond for their happiness. Moe's love for his favorite sports teams, the NY Mets and NY Giants, was a source of endless enjoyment and camaraderie for him.
Maurice (Moe) Albert Guerin is predeceased by his parents, and his sister Theresa (Donald) Gildersleeve. He is survived by his wife Bunny (Betty Ives) and his two loving daughters, Nicole (Stash) Kissel, and Kristy (Sean) Aubin, who were a source of immense pride and joy to him. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, August, Harland and Wesley Kissel and Gavin, Trent, and Branson Aubin, who will forever carry his love and wisdom in their hearts. His siblings; Ernie (Debbie) Guerin of Port Henry, Sue (Peter) Medick of Ballston Spa , Leona (Bob) Swayne of Ballston Lake, and many nieces and nephews.
Moe's life was marked by dedication to family, service to his community, and a deep love for those close to him. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Maurice (Moe) Albert Guerin's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy of love, devotion, and honor will forever inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
Family and Friends are invited to calling hours on September 7th from 5-7 at Harland Funeral Home. A service will be at 11am on September 8th also at Harland Funeral Home with a burial to follow.
