Matthew J. Glebus

Matthew J. Glebus died peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on December 3, 2021.  He was born on December 19, 1945 in Chatlineau, Belgium to Joseph and Angela Pierard Glebus.  His parents pre-deceased him.  He married the love of his life Donna on May 24, 1969 and is survived by a son Matthew (Kim) of Port Henry and a daughter Stacey of Plattsburgh.  He has three beautiful granddaughters, Alayna (Fishy 2), Emily and Gracie Glebus.  They were the light and loves of his life.  He cherished spending time with them and instilled his love for fishing by enjoying many special days with them. 

He is survived by his siblings Michael (Suzanne) Glebus of Warrensburg, Barbara (Walter) Pratt of Corinth, Germaine (Joe) Brace, Cape Coral, Florida and Joseph Glebus of Port Henry.  He is also survived by two brothers in laws John (Cathy) Glebus, William (June) Glebus and many nieces, nephews and American and Belgian cousins. 

We cannot forget all of his special friends and fishing buddies.  Stanky Sears, a lifelong friend who was always there for him in whatever he needed.  His friends Keith and Jason Peters and so many others not to be forgotten.  His fishing legacy will live on with Fishy 2, his fishing buddies and all of the fishing friends he has met over his lifetime!

Calling hours will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry.
