Port Henry
Mary R. Consadine, 100, of Port Henry, NY died August 22, 2022 at Elderwood in Ticonderoga, NY.
She was born on June 30, 1922, in Willsboro, NY, to Daniel F Kehoe and Maude (Garvey) Kehoe. She attended a one-room district schoolhouse on their property for 5 years. Her mother was her first teacher. She then transferred to Willsboro High School and graduated in 1939 as valedictorian. Mary then received her BS degree from Plattsburgh State Teacher’s College in 1943. She later returned to Plattsburgh State and got her Elementary Certification and MA degree. She worked at Moriah Central School as a second-grade teacher, a position she held for 20 years.
On November 29, 1945, Mary married Thomas George Consadine after his return from WW II.
After both Tom and Mary’s retirement in 1981, they traveled all over the Eastern United States and Canada for 10 years in their motor home. Mary was a member of the Eastern Star for many years and held many offices during that time. In 1995 she was appointed Grand Representative to the O.E.S in the Commonwealth of Kentucky from New York State. She also held the position of President of the Sherman Free Library in Port Henry and retired after 48 years.
Mary was a member of the Episcopal Christ Church in Port Henry, a charter member of the Moriah Historical Society and served as a volunteer at the Port Henry Iron Center for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Rupert) Mancol of California, a granddaughter, Jennifer (Clifford) Kelly of Arizona, a grandson Jay Jacobs of California, a great grandchildren, her brother Daniel (Wilma) Kehoe and six nieces and nephews, also dear friends Sharon and Gene Wilson of Mineville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sherman Free Library in Port Henry.
The family is grateful to the staff and nurses of the Elderwood Nursing Home in Ticonderoga for the kind and loving care given to Mary.
A graveside service will be held August 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Moriah Union Cemetery in Port Henry.
