Marvin (Moose) James, 89, of Mineville passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024. He was born on December 29, 1934, in Glens Falls to Ruth Miner and Leonard James Sr.
Moose proudly served in the US Army as a Tank Commander for 2 years. He retired from International Paper after working there for 40 years.
He married the love of his life, Phyllis Allen James, on May 5, 1956, and they spent 61 happy years together.
Through the years, Moose enjoyed helping others. He also enjoyed spending time with his family (especially “his girls”), going to the Casino, neighborhood walks, puzzles, camping, and long car rides.
Moose was predeceased by his loving wife Phyllis, his parents, and his brothers Leonard Jr., Roderick, Kenneth, and Benjamin.
He is survived by his children Sue Mace (Rod) and Rich James; his grandchildren Stacey Mace, Kristin Mace (Greg Trombley), Stephanie James (Trevor Rock), and Shelby James; his great-grandchild Gavin Pratt; his sister-in-law and her husband Grace and Bruce Lamb; his brother-in-law and his wife David and Adel Allen; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend Tom McCormick.
Moose’s family would like to thank the staff at Elizabethtown Community Hospital and everyone at Champlain Valley Senior Community in Willsboro for their amazing care and love for him.
A graveside service will be held at South Moriah Cemetery on Friday, October 11th at 11am followed by a Celebration of Life at the Moriah Firehouse.
