Martin Kedmenec, age 88 passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023 at his home in Mineville New York.
Martin was born in Witherbee, New York on November 15, 1934 to the late Balas and Elsie (Petro) Kedmenec.
Martin was a Veteran of the US Army and for many years was an active committee member at the Presbyterian Church in Port Henry New York.
As a young man, Martin was employed at the Republic Steel Mines in Witherbee, New York until its closure. Martin furthered his employment as a laborer and retired from the Local Laborers’ Union #186. After retiring, Martin continued to work for several years at NYS DEC Campground, in Crown Point, NY.
Martin was a devoted father and grandfather who will be lovingly remembered by his children, Martina (Glen) Bailey, Martin (Lisa) Kedmenec, Marina (Chris) Harris. His grandchildren Jason, Danielle, Mandi, Christian, Mckenna, and Alleyne. Great grandchildren Zachary, Cody, Colton, Jillian, and Timberlee. Uncle Martin will be very missed by Tracy, Tisha, and Tanya Sprague. In addition, Sister-in-law Avis Kedmenec and nieces and nephews Cheryl, Steve and Susan Kedmenec and Mike and Pam Kedmenec along with many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Martin was predeceased by the love of his life, Alberta, Sprague, and his loving companion Debbie Fish. A long time friend, Tracy Sprague, two sisters, Mary and Katherine Kaniza, and four brothers, Steve Kaniza, John (Marion) Kedmenec, Michael Kedmenec, Stephen (Helen)Kedmenec and one nephew, John Kedmenec Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 6-8 pm at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, NY. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 11th, 11:00 am at the Union Cemetery in Port Henry.
