Crown Point
Mark Warren Price, 66, passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 9th, 2023, at UVM Medical Center after a short illness. Mark was the first son born to Sidney Warren and Jacquelyn (Flagg) Price on November 20, 1956, in Kittery, ME.
Mark's life was colorful and filled with adventures while pursuing his passions, hobbies, and love for nature. He spent his growing up years canoeing, fishing, and exploring the back roads, ponds, marshes, and ocean that Cape Cod had to offer. His love of animals was instilled in him while working at Bassett's Animal Farm in Brewster, MA where he was entrusted to bring home two orphaned baby raccoons, which he raised until they were old enough to be released back into the wild. They were the first of many creatures his mother patiently allowed him to bring home to rehabilitate.
In 1975 he graduated from Nauset Regional High School in Eastham, MA where he played clarinet in the “A” band, basketball, and ran on the track team. Mark attended Unity College in Maine, then became a construction apprentice in North Hero, VT. He later moved to Crown Point, NY where he met his wife Deborah and settled to establish his own carpentry construction business.
His love of the outdoors filled the home he built for them, using wood from his property to create beautiful custom touches throughout. He went on to use his woodworking talents to build and repair homes for family, friends, and many customers in the Adirondack area. The skills he learned hunting and fishing were especially enjoyed when in the woods and on the water with family and friends while swapping tall tales and stories. Mark especially loved being able to pass on his knowledge to his sons, nephews, and his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Grumpy”. Mark is remembered for saving the life of a woman, whom he rescued from her burning home. For this he was awarded The Carnegie Medal, USA and Canada's highest award for civilian heroism.
Mark is survived by his wife, of 37 years, Deborah (Taylor) Price; his parents, Sidney Warren and Jacquelyn (Flagg) Price of Boothbay Harbor, ME; his sons Justin Leland (Jennifer) Taylor, Taylor Warren (Hillary) Price of Crown Point, NY; grandchildren Austyn Taylor, Chase Tasker, Eliza, Cullen, Felicity and Lorelei Price; step grandchildren Riley, Ross and Raegan Thomas; sisters Laurie Dougherty, Bridgton, ME; Luanne (Dan) Weekes, Alna, ME, brother Russell (Irish) Price, Dallas TX; Mark is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life and private memorial will be held in the future at the convenience of the family.
