Louise “Weeze” (Salerno) Wheelock, 92, passed away on Monday March 1, 2021 at Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
She was born April 18, 1928 to the late Ralph and Anna (Esposito) Salerno in Port Henry, NY.
She was married to William “Bumper” Wheelock for 60 years. Since his death in May of 2008 she has missed going to Yankees spring training and watching the games on tv with him. There is sure to be a big reunion in heaven with Bump, her family and friends around the table and a big bowl of pasta!
Louise worked at the Head Start in Mineville for many years. She says if it wasn’t for Bump wanting to head south for the winter, she would still be working there.
Weeze loved visiting and feeding everyone who came through the door. Her warm and welcoming nature made everyone feel like part of the family.
Louise leaves behind her daughters, Anne Marie (Joe) Kazlo, Carol (Bill) Callahan; her grandchildren Joe (Erica) Kazlo, Jaime Kazlo Watson, Cori (Scott) Blair, Holli (Clint) Childs, Cara Callahan; her great grandchildren Amelia and Joey Kazlo, Brennan, Mason and Isabella Childs, Jenna and Charlie Watson, Carie and Julia Blair; her brothers Joe Salerno, Pat (Jane) Salerno and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband William “Bumper” Wheelock; her brother Paul Salerno; her sisters Rosemarie Capuano, Joan Taylor, Mary Ann Saunders; her sister-in-law Betty Garcia.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
