Louis Joseph "Lou" LaRose, 81, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, in Burlington, Vermont. Born on October 21, 1943, in Moriah, New York, Lou lived a life deeply rooted in the Adirondack region he cherished.
Affectionately known as the “King of Ledge Hill,” Lou was a steadfast and familiar presence in his community. He could often be found in his shop, quietly observing the world—a figure of strength and constancy to those who knew him.
Lou shared 36 devoted years with his wife, Tammy LaRose. Together they built a life centered on family and simple pleasures. He was a proud father to Marlene LaRose and MaryBeth (Kevin) Sayre. His grandchildren—Jacob MacDougall, Noah Sayre, and Olden Sayre—brought him immense joy.
An avid outdoorsman, Lou found peace in hunting and fishing—pursuits that reflected his deep bond with nature. He also enjoyed listening to the radio and cheering on his beloved Yankees from his favorite chair.
He maintained close ties with many cousins and valued strong connections across generations. Lou was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Jaquish; father Joseph L. LaRose; stepfather Bud Jaquish; sister Mildred Gravelle; and uncles John Tryon and Timothy Tryon (Thelma).
A wake will be held on October 19, 2025 from 1pm-3pm at Harland’s Funeral Home, Port Henry NY.
Louis’s legacy is one of quiet dignity, loyalty, and deep familial love. His presence will be missed dearly by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and peace to those who carry it forward.
