Leo Kudlacik Obituary

Moriah – Leo Kudlacik, age 95, of Edgemont Road passed away on Thursday, September 22.  He was born in Witherbee, NY, on November 8, 1926 to Frank and Agnes (Gron) Kudlacik.  He married Pauline Koczur on May 6, 1951 and enjoyed 71 wonderful years together.  Their marriage was a true example of love and devotion.  Leo enjoyed his vegetable garden, feeding the wild birds, and keeping abreast of scientific discoveries.  He wore many hats, but he enjoyed the varied engineering challenges while working at the missile base in Lewis, NY.  His true passion later turned to land surveying which allowed him to be active and outdoors. Leo and Pauline raised four children and are blessed with 8 grandchildren.  Leo’s love and devotion extended beyond his immediate family by dedicating numerous years caring for and helping his parents, in-laws, children, and grandchildren.

Leo is survived by his wife Pauline; daughter Bernadette (Donald) Pierson of South Hero, Vermont; sons, Edward (Susan) Kudlacik of Glenville, NY, and Paul (Christine) Kudlacik, of Saratoga Springs, NY, and son in law, Bill Infantolino, of Vestal, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Benjamin and Zachary Infantolino, Seth, Ian and Maria Pierson, and Nicholas and Christopher Kudlacik, his brothers Henry, Bernie and Thomas (Joan) Kudlacik, and brother-in-law Gasper (Dee) Koczur, along with several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by his daughter, Wanda, and grandson, Stefan, by sisters: Stella (Anthony) Harvish, Julia (Elliot) Heald, Anna (James) Lawler, and brothers: John (Marjorie) Kudlacik, and Frank Kudlacik.

Leo will be missed by many.  His easy-going personality and genuine care for people, whether or not he knew them, earned him the respect of those who met him.  We will miss our conversations, his wise advice, and his special ability for connecting with people.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers, whom he appreciated and enjoyed, and who helped make his final year the best it could be.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of one’s choice can be made in Leo’s name.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 26 from 5-7 PM at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 11:00 AM, at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
