Kenneth E. Smith Jr.

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, Kenneth E. Smith Jr, loving father, and grandfather, passed away
suddenly at Elizabethtown Hospital at the age of 81.
Kenneth, known affectionately by friends and family as Ken, was born on September 6, 1940, to
Kenneth Sr. and Mary (Holman) Smith. Ken took pride in his work as a stonemason, contractor,
and logger. Ken enjoyed sharing stories of his life including driving logging equipment across
Lake Gorge when it froze and designing and building his home and farm on Dodd Hill in Hague,
NY.
In his retirement years, Ken enjoyed spending time with grandkids, taking them fishing, eating at
Golden Corral, and spending time watching westerns, and playing with one of his youngest
grandchildren, Aiden. Ken was a faithful Christian, and enjoyed church and singing gospel.
Ken was predeceased by his father Kenneth, mother Mary, sister Hazel (Smith) Davison, his
wife Virginia (Hill) Smith, and his beloved granddaughters Suzie Allard and Jessica Webb.
He leaves behind his loving children; his daughter Claralee and Dan Allard, his son Michael and
Rachael Smith, his son Mark and Sandy Smith, his daughter Karen Smith-Rhino, and his son
Joseph and Kasie Smith. Also many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A ceremony of life will be held by the family at a later date followed by a private graveside
ceremony. The family has requested flowers and donations be sent to the Elizabethtown Hospital
inpatient unit as a thank you to the wonderful staff that went above and beyond to help Kenneth and his family.
