Kenneth Anderson Sr. Obituary

Kenneth Lloyd Anderson (91), “Andy” passed away peacefully on November, 4th, 2023, at

Elizabethtown Community Hospital following a brief illness.

Born November, 27th, 1931 to Elizabeth Carrie and John Nels, Andy lived his young life

roaming the corn fields and exploring the farms of Wisconsin. Andy was the youngest sibling of

6 children, Everett, Harriett, Beatrice, Bernice and Gordon. He later joined the United States

Navy as a 3rd Class MetalSmith where he served 3 years. It was during his tenure in the Navy

that he met the love of his life and wife of 70 years Bernice LaRock. Bernice preceded him in

death by only 3-weeks as their hearts could not bear this world without each other.

Shortly after his marriage to Bernice, they settled in Mineville, NY where they raised their four

children, Kenneth Jr, Marie, Mark and Julie while working their dairy farm. Andy worked many

jobs but was probably best known for his years at Moriah Central School and Westport Central

School in the maintenance and janitorial departments. He was the jack of all trades, best

handyman with his unparalleled ability to fix almost anything. He had a tool for every job and

was willing to help anyone get it done. His love of the woods was probably his most cherished

pastime which gave him the most wonderful hunting memories spent at Beaver Meadow deer

club in New Russia, NY. Everywhere he went he had a smile fixed on his face and rosy red

cheeks to match. Telling stories of “Sven and Ollie” with his jolly good mood and unwavering

love of the simple things in life. Upon retiring he and Bernice spent their years traveling, making

friends along the way and enjoying the rest of their 70-years inseparable, even in death.

Andy is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth Carrie and John Nels, his wife of 70-years

Bernice, his siblings Everett, Harriett, Bernice, Beatrice and Gordon, his daughter-in-law Diane

Anderson, and his daughter Julie Ashline.

Andy is survived by his children, Kenneth Jr (Lynn), Mark, and Marie. His grandchildren,

Melissa Celotti, Erica Sadowski (Daniel), Nicholas Anderson (Janiece), Stacey Anderson

(Andy), Jessica Charron (Joseph), Mallory Fanning, and Mark Ashline Jr. (Elizabeth).

His greatest joy was his family and living 91-years afforded him close bonds with his

great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Reese Celotti, Cole Gaddor, Morgan Sadowski, Lillie

and Parker Anderson, Dawson Anderson, Stella and Gwen Mattison, Corinne Woods, Estelle and Everett Charron,

Anderson Fanning, and Wyatt and Reid Ashline.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Elizabethtown Community Hospital, 75 Park Street,

Elizabethtown, NY 12932.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, 11:00 am, at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry.
