Katharine Pepper Baker (Kay), of Moriah, New York, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025 at her home. She was 100 years of age.
Born on November 22, 1925, in Elizabethtown, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Hilda Pepper. After graduating from High School, Katharine worked for the Bell Telephone Company as an operator and then worked as a clerk for the Moriah Center Post Office until she retired. She was also a Trustee for the Moriah Methodist Church. She was close to and helped raise her brothers and sisters, Fred, Jack, Dorcas, Terry, Joan (deceased), Janet (deceased), and Esther (deceased).
Katharine is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Bonnie Pinda and her husband Frank of Jamison PA, her granddaughter Megan Pinda and her fiancée Michael, and her great grandson Spencer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Baker.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 4-6 pm at the Harland Funeral home in Port Henry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moriah Ambulance Squad, the Moriah Methodist Church, or the South Moriah Cemetery.
Her funeral service and interment will be scheduled later this spring.
