June (Genier) Tur

Moriah, NY

On Monday, October 26, 2020 June Tur passed away peacefully at Elderwood Care Facility with her two loving sons by her side.

Born on June 23, 1923, she was the daughter of Irving Genier Sr. and Evelyn (O’Neil) Genier.

June was a lifelong Educator who taught French at Mineville High School and later Moriah Central School. After retirement she continued to teach as a tutor for French and Spanish, and gave piano lessons.

She was a member of the Community Advisory Council at International Paper Company for many years which she enjoyed very much.

She enjoyed reading and knitting and every year at Christmas family and friends were guaranteed a new pair of hand knit socks.

June married Anthony Tur and had two sons, David and Robert. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings Irving (Etola) Genier Jr., Jean (Robert) Harris and Joan (Chester) Colburn along with friends Sandy Fernandez and Annabelle Waite.

Survivors include two sons, David and Robert (Melanie Rodd), grandson Tony (Maria) Tur, granddaughter Jennifer (Sean) Young, grandson Vincent (Sue) Tur and grandson Aaron Tur, many nieces and nephews, and ten great grandchildren.

June was a member of the United Methodist Church in Moriah and sang in the choir for many years.

A graveside service will be held at the Union Cemetery in Port Henry at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
