John Henry White, 85, died August 31, 2020 at his home in Westport. He was born March 23, 1935 the son of Charles and Mary (Fitzgerald) White.
John graduated from Westport High School in 1953. He was a 66 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 545, and a 54 year member of the Laborer’s Union Local 186. He worked on the construction of the New York State Thruway, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and the Adirondack Northway. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, from 1957-1959.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Robert. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Hadley) White, son Daniel, grandson Cheyenne, his sister Edith Bigalow of Rome, NY and several cousins and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
