Jeanette Cembalski, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. Jeanette was born on March 16, 1937 to John and Mary (Rosselli) Scozzafava. She grew up in Witherbee, New York with her brothers, Samuel, Joseph, Thomas and John. She enjoyed visiting the general store at the bottom of the hill where she would buy candy and, with the help of a stepstool to reach the register, she would cash out customers.
She married Thomas Cembalski and together they made a life in Port Henry, New York where she was a devoted mother to their two daughters, Cynthia and Evelyn. She took great pride in her banking expertise and worked for many years at the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union. In her later years, she moved to South Glens Falls, NY where she was often seen walking her faithful companion, Buddy, through the neighborhood. She spoke often of the great friendships she made and how much she loved this community.
After her husband passed away, Jeanette made a final move to be with family. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to brag about their various accomplishments and was so proud of all of them. She loved her Saturday morning breakfast excursions for a Belgian waffle with whipped cream and trips to the “Toy Store” with the great grands.
We will miss her feisty yet generous spirit, but we take comfort in knowing her pain and suffering has been lifted.
Jeanette is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia (Matthew Parillo) and Evelyn (Thomas Foster) and her brother, Samuel Scozzafava. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jacqueline (Ryan Armer), Christopher, Alexander, Ryan (Sienna), and Jack; and great grandchildren: Travis and Wade. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas Cembalski and brothers Joseph Scozzafava, John Scozzafava and Thomas Scozzafava.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 at 12pm at St. Patrick’s Church, 12 St. Patrick’s Place, Port Henry, New York 12974. Following the burial all are invited for a reception at St. Patrick’s Parish Center.
