James E. Petro
August 13, 1957 – June 26th 2025
James E. Petro, age 67, of Crown Point NY, passed away peacefully on June 26th, 2025. James, known affectionately as Jim, was born on August 13, 1957, to the late Edward and Beverly (Harris) Petro.
Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, whose love for his family knew no bounds. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Petro, his daughters, Jade (Jesse) Roth and Jenna Petro and grandson Wesley James Roth. He is also survived by his siblings Valorie (Jonathan) Olmer, Beth (Vincent) Tom, Douglas Petro, his many nieces and nephew.
Jim enjoyed his career as a hard working mason, working for an engineering company that took him to 48 states. His legacy lives on in the structures he helped build and in the respect he earned from those who worked alongside him. He was also a proud member of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #2 for many years. Jim took immense pride in his craft—his work was known for its precision and attention to detail, a true reflection of his dedication to doing things right.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He found great joy in hunting and fishing, often spending time with friends and family in the woods or on the lake. Jim had a natural mechanical talent and was always busy—whether fixing something in the shed, working in the garden, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. He found joy in staying active and took pride in everything he built, repaired, or created.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, no services will be held. We are deeply grateful to the friends and family who have shown such generous support during this difficult time. Your shared memories, kind words, and presence have been a great comfort, and a powerful reminder of the lasting impact Jim had on all of our lives.
The family extends their deepest thanks to High Peaks Hospice and kindly requests that donations be made to support their work.
Rest in peace, Jim. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of your loved ones forever.
