James (Jim) William Boyea, 75, of Moriah, N.Y. passed away peacefully on January 18th 2026 after a long health battle with his family by his side. He graduated from Moriah Central School in 1969. He served in the US Army as a Artillery Survey Specialist. Receiving the National Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He married the love of his life, Sherlene M. Perry on April 24th 1971. He was employed by International Paper Company for over 33 years. Dad enjoyed his trips to the casino, spending time with family and friends, throwing horseshoes, cook outs, holidays & camping, but most of all he enjoyed helping others. He is survived by his three children, James Jr & his wife Patty Boyea of Moriah, NY, Jennifer Cook & husband Ralph of Ballston Spa, NY and John & his wife Brianna Boyea of Moriah, NY. His granddaughter Kendra Boyea of Moriah NY. His brother John (Jack) and Joan Boyea of Schroon Lake NY. His sister Janet and the late Dick Harding of Queensbury NY, his sister in law Francis Boyea of Farmington CT. Also many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur & Leona Boyea, his wife Sherlene on July 19th 2003, sisters Rose and Robert O’Dell & Shirley & Robert Miller and brother Arthur J. Boyea. Calling hours will be Friday Jan 23rd 4pm-7pm at Harland Funeral Home, a funeral will be Saturday Jan. 24th at 10:00am at St Patrick’s Church Port Henry NY. A gathering will take place at the Old Miner Tavern following the service. All are welcome to come.
Spring burial will take place on May 15, 2026 at 11:45 am at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Moriah.
