Iris Garrison Obituary

Iris Garrison a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend left this world after a courageous battle with cancer on June 7, 2020 surrounded by their love.  Born in Ticonderoga, New York at the Moses Ludington Hospital, Iris was a lifelong resident of Port Henry, New York.  Iris attended Port Henry Elementary School and graduated from Moriah Central High School where she was Captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad.  She also attended North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, New York before starting her career at Simmons Precision and retiring after 30 years from BF Goodrich in Vergennes Vermont.  Iris was a past member of the United Methodist Church of Port Henry and supported the Women Helping Others Mission Group of the First United Methodist Church of Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Iris was a skilled crocheter, who donated hats and mittens to the local preschool to ensure the children would be warm in the winter, and afghans to the animal shelter.  Iris was an avid gardener who loved her native roses and iris flowers that brought beauty to her yard.  We will always remember her as the creator of our family holidays, and always remembering birthdays and special occasions.  Iris’ presence in our lives will be greatly missed and celebrated with wonderful memories.

Iris was preceded in death by her father John Garrison, brother Darryal, and sisters Jacquelyn and Wanda. She leaves behind her mother Christine Garrison, brother Dean; and sister Zelda Garrison-Desany, her husband Peter Desany and their daughter, Micaela Garrison-Desany.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic services will be private. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Port Henry.
