Helen J. DePaolis, (Boucher), 86 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on the morning of February 5, 2021. She was born in Cheever, NY to Raymond and Josephine Boucher. She was pre-deceased by her devoted husband of 62 years who departed this life in 2017. Helen beat cancer twice. Once in 1995 and again in 2017.
Helen retired from International Paper Company after 30 years when she was 55 years old. Prior to International Paper Company, she worked for many years at Grand Union grocery stores in Vermont and New York. A hard worker all of her life, her children often believed she had the energy and stamina of three people 1/2 her age.
She was an excellent cook and baker, loved to read romance novels, was an avid bird watcher, a skilled gardener and sewed, knitted, and crocheted all of her life. She and her husband loved playing cards and visiting casinos up and down the east coast, as well as Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. In the past few years, she enjoyed making frequent trips to visit her daughter, Tina and her many wiener dogs in Florida where they often swam in the pool, ate at local restaurants, shopped and visited the Seminole casinos.
Helen loved her children, grandsons and great granddaughters very much. She is survived by her children who adored her: Joseph DePaolis of Moriah, NY (Gail Babcock), Tina DePaolis of Boynton Beach, FL, Marie Bryant of Port Henry, NY (Chuck Bryant) and Darlene Slattery of Moriah, NY (Jim Slattery). Grandsons: Adam and Erica Slattery and their three daughters: Harper, Emersyn and Ava, Tom and Kay Slattery, Taylor Slattery (Jordan Speshock), and Chuckie Bryant (Caleigh LaMour). She is also survived by a brother, Bill Boucher and his wife, Ann of Mineville, NY, a sister-in-law, Virginia Ahern of Levittown, NY and several nieces and nephews.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry.
