Port Henry
Glenn R. Moorby, age 85, of Port Henry went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 1, 2020.
He was born on January 12, 1935 in Burlington, Vt. to Kenneth and Mae Moorby. The oldest of five children, he grew up with one brother and three sisters in the Town of Moriah. He graduated from Port Henry High School in 1953, then joined the Marines and served his country for three years. In 1956, Glenn went to work for Belden & Edwards as a mechanic. He drove school bus and worked part-time for Joe Firlik Sr. operating the movie projector and delivering films to the theaters across Northern N.Y.
In 1957 he married Barbara (Scalzo). Together they raised four daughters, Carmen, Denise, Pamela and Renee.
If he wasn’t working on someone’s car you could find him riding his Harley Motorcycle with friends. He also liked to play pinochle, pool, dancing, listening to music, deer hunting and watching his favorite Westerns and football on TV.
When his children grew up and moved away his constant companions were his cats Gismo and Patches. Left behind to treasure his memory are his loving wife Barbara and three daughters, Carmen, Denise and Pamela; five grandchildren Glenn (Jodi) Dewyea, Matthew (Rebekah) Dewyea, Emily (Chuck) Ford, Megan (Corry) Mason and Adam Iles; seven great grandchildren Javei, Addy, Asher, Faith, Ben, Isaiah, Adam Jr.; his sister Nancy and half brother George (Sue) and Ronnie.
Glenn was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Renee, his parents Kenneth and Mae, his sisters Betty and Linda, his brother Robert and his half siblings Marion and Ralph.
Glenn loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Special thanks to the Staff at Elderwood for Glenn’s care.
A private service was held at the Harland Funeral Home. Donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad or the S.P.C.A.
