Georgiana (LaRose) Scott

Georgiana L. LaRose Scott, 83, of Moriah, NY passed away on October 7, 2023.

Georgiana was born in Port Henry, NY on March 10, 1940, the daughter of George and Elsie May (Kingdollar) LaRose.

Georgie enjoyed numerous aspects of life including beach going(especially as a kid), boating with Hank and Judi, pickleball, baking, and volunteering at the UMC Daisy Morton Center with her dear friends. She and Tom enjoyed square dancing and several cruises with friends. She delighted her family and friends with baked treats especially her cookies and fudge. Georgie was a great friend to many.

Georgie worked several years as a NYS credentialed alcohol abuse counselor at a variety of outpatient services including Essex County Alcoholism Services, Moriah Shock Correctional Facilities, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and Conifer Park. Her counseling touched and changed many lives for the better.

Georgiana was predeceased by her loving husband, Tom Scott, her parents, George and Elsie LaRose and her sisters, Barbara Genier and Lois Goldman.

She is survived by her sons, David M. (Terri) Langey of Derby, CT, John R. (Rosemary) Langey of Cazenovia, NY, brothers, Henry (Judith) LaRose and John LaRose, six grandchildren, Holly, Spencer, Daniel, Jacob, Benjamin (Danielle), and Madison, two great-grandchildren, Mason and Greyden, nephews, Christopher (Karen) Genier and Brian (Laurel) Genier, nieces, Amy Meachem and Donna (Vince) Romasco, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

At Georgie’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service to celebrate Georgie’s life will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 21, at Valley View Cemetery, 197 Route 9N, Ticonderoga, NY.  All are welcome to attend.

Donations in Georgiana’s memory may be made to Elizabethtown Community Hospital or Moriah United Methodist Church.
