George A. Smith, Jr.
June 24, 1964-June 17, 2026
George Smith, 61, of Port Henry, NY passed away peacefully at his home on Stone Street. He was born in Glens Falls, NY to his parents, George Smith Sr. and Joan (Hyde) Robinson of Stony Creek, NY.
George attended Schroon Lake and Moriah Central Schools. He served in the U.S. Army, with a tour in Honduras and was later stationed in Alaska. In more recent years he was employed at DR Trimmer and Whistle Pig.
George loved the outdoors, hunting and camping. His greatest pleasure was hanging with his friends and family. He spent a lot of time with his buddies, sharing and resharing the moments he spent with them; camping at Stony Creek and the times he spent there with his children and grandchildren meant everything to him. Every opportunity George had to be at a gathering with family and friends he was there. His loyal canine companions, Bongo and Rosie, were always at his side.
George was predeceased by his parents, George Smith Sr., his mother, Joan (Robinson) Harris, and his stepfather, Bert (“Eggie”) Harris, his siblings, Scott R. Smith, Gloria J. (Smith) Lanoue, Charles E. Robinson, and Alice J. Smith.
Left to cherish George’s memories are his siblings and their families, his children and their families, and his many friends. His brothers, Eric (Jennie) Robinson of Hague; Michael (Robin) Robinson of Stony Creek; Henry (Patti) Smith of Hudson Falls; and Roger Smith of Glens Falls, NY. His Sisters, Theresa (Bill) Jenks of Schroon Lake; Edna (Stephen) Bowers of Olmstedville; Shirley Smith of Ballston Lake; Susie (Darryl) of Warrensburg; and Katherine Smith of Hudson Falls, NY.
George also leaves behind his stepchildren, their mother, and families. His daughter, Heather Fuller, grandchildren, Blake and Tracy Fuller; and great grandsons, Asher Fuller and Preston McDougal. His daughter, Danielle and Patrick Sullivan, grandchildren, Madison, Bailey and Finn Wright, and Quinn Sullivan. His son Max Holman, and many of the greater Moriah area “families”.
George has more siblings, family and a great number of friends that were like family to him. Jerry, John, Wayne, Ralph, Stacey, Dianne, Joyce, Debbie, Beth, Howard, Swamp, Dale and so, so, many more. The list would be endless.
Friends and family are invited to join together on June 24, 2026 at Harland’s Funeral Home, 4279 Main Street, Port Henry, NY from 5:00-7:00 PM for an informal service. Immediately following the service we will meet at the Bullwagga Bay Campsite Pavilion, Port Henry, NY until 9:00 PM.
Any memorial contributions can be made to a charity of George’s many interests. Please join us on George’s Sixty Second (62nd) birthday, June 24, 2026, with laughter, storytelling, untold stories, putting names to faces, and just celebrating the Life of George (Peachy, Bro, Poppa) Smith Jr.
In keeping with George’s wishes his cremains will be placed at a later date in the area he treasured most.
