Gary A. Stevens of Crown Point NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Nov. 1, 2025 at the age of 79.
Born in Gouverneur, NY on July 16, 1946; Gary was the beloved son of Carl and Bessie (McEathron) Stevens.
Gary lived passionately for his wife Peggy of 44 years, his children, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his love of cooking for others.
Gary worked for many years for Wassaic State Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY where he had many roles.
Gary's greatest accomplishments in life aside from raising his children was his involvement with the First Congregational Church of Crown Point NY where he was President for more than 20 years. Gary helped organize the First Congregational Church's Annual Strawberry Festival for many years, where you would see him in his glory cooking and enjoying time with his community.
Gary was predeceased by his loving parents Carl and Bessie Stevens of Harrisville NY and his Father and Mother in law Roderick and Barbara Drinkwine of Crown Point NY.
Gary is survived by the love of his life, his wife Margaret "Peggy" Stevens (Drinkwine) of Crown Point NY, his daughter Casey Stevens of Hudson NY, daughter Penny Stevens (Doug) of Ticonderoga NY, Son Graig Stevens (Jen) of Plainfield, CT, son Daniel Stevens (Janet) of Fries, VA, Jenny Stevens (Roland) of Moira, NY, Gary Stevens II (Heather) of Crown Point NY, Austen Stevens (Cassandra) of Moira, NY, Charles Stevens of Moira, NY and Lee Stevens, unknown. His loving sister Rosemary Charlton, of Gouverneur NY; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews,
We would like to thank Elderwood of Ticonderoga and High Peaks Hospice for the loving care they provided to our father and a very special thank you to Pastor Dave Hirtle for his words of comfort and support during our fathers last moments. Dave was not only the Pastor but a friend and confidant to our father many years and we were all thankful that he was there with us to help us say goodbye.
