Frederick S. Rice

Frederick Stewart Rice passed on Friday, July 22, 2022.  Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, NY.  There will be a graveside service on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11:00 at White Church Cemetery in Crown Point, NY.  Dad was the youngest of three children born to Stewart and Lillian Rice.  He grew up loving baseball, and was a lifelong Yankees fan.  He would later share this love with his granddaughter, Nicole.  They would attend many games together throughout the years.  Dad was a mischievous kid in school, and many of his misdeeds were the stuff of legend in Crown Point.  Dad never knew a stranger, and could make a friend literally standing in line at the grocery store.  He loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with his hunting buddies Fred and Charlie. In the last few years, Dad was a fan of attending concerts, and was the biggest Beatles fan I’ve ever met. Dad also spent time in the military- first the Army National Guard, then the Air Force.  Dad was also a letter carrier in the Corinth, NY post office.  When you were with dad, his infectious laugh and amazing sense of humor were contagious.  Dad was predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Betty, as well as two sons, Steve and Kevin, and a daughter, Laura, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Laconte. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Frazee (Mark) of Ironton, Ohio, Gail Laconte (Michael) of Gaffney, South Carolina, and Cheryl (Bob) Korona of Zephyrhills, FL, as well granddaughters Nicole (Russ) Hibbard of Bristol, VT, Brianne (Shawn) Korona of Bristol, VT, Kia (Will) Martin of Crown Point, NY, Darcy (Quentin) Cagle of Inman, SC, Samantha Ashe of Crown Point, NY, Sheri  (Marshall) Lingle of Chazy NY, Michelle Dyson of Auburn, MA, Shannon Frazee of Ironton, Ohio, and his grandsons, Daniel Whitford of Crown Point, NY, Eric (Audrey) Whitford of New Hampshire, Stephen Laconte of Arizona, Daniel (Emily) Dyson of Brookfield, MA, and Ryan Frazee of Ironton, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Davis of Lake Luzerne, NY and two nephews, Randy (Jackie) Davis of Virginia, Jeff Davis of Lake Luzerne, as well as a niece, Lisa Lombard, of Illinois, along with numerous cousins.  Dad had a growing crowd of great grandchildren that he loved like crazy as well.  Our numbers are many! Many thanks to his good friend, Ray Meachem, thanks for looking out for him.  Thanks also goes out to the first responders on the scene.   Fly with the angels and give mom our love, Dad.  Your amazing personality now belongs to the ages.  We will never forget you.
