Florence K. Orr, 84, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on January 14th, 2022. She was born on January 8, 1938 in the Town of Moriah, the daughter of William Daha Sr and Florence K (Ellsworth) Daha.
She was married to Thomas F Orr on September 4th, 1955 and settled in Witherbee NY. Together they had 5 children.
She spent most of her life as a caregiver working many years in the housekeeping department at Moses Ludington Hospital before receiving her GED. She later went on to work for the ARC.
Florence was an avid bingo player, loved elvis and her dog peppy. She was also a member of the womens auxiliary for the Moriah Grange.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her 5 children. A son Thomas (Juanita) Orr of Fort Worth TX, a daughter Colleen (Jerry) Peters of Elizabethtown NY, a Daughter Patricia (George) Clark of Mineville, a son Michael (Maria) Orr of Witherbee and a daughter Cherri Orr and Dale Ashline of Hudson Falls. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Thomas F Orr, her second life long partner Adelbert Gregory, 7 sisters Helen Sutliff, Evelyn Sherman, Marion Ives, Elizabeth Ashe, Laura Sprague, Inez Mattison, Elma Simione and one brother, William Daha Jr.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20 from 5-7 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.
A Funeral Mass and burial will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember her in a special way may make donations in her memory to either the Moriah Womans Auxiliary or the SPCA.
