Obituary of Evelyn Elizabeth Lanzo
July 7, 1930 – May 10, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Evelyn Elizabeth (Connors) Lanzo, wife of Ferdinand (Tiny) Lanzo (deceased) announces that Evelyn went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2021.
Evelyn was 90 years old.
Born July 7, 1930 in Port Henry, N.Y., she was the daughter of James and Cora (Treadway) Connors.
Evelyn was the fourth of ten children, Regina Connors Williams, (deceased) Arthur Connors, (deceased at 9 months) John aka Tippy Connors, (deceased) Dorothy Connors Demar, Jimmy Connors, Vera Connors Patnode, deceased Cathy Connors Corbo, Beverly Connors Baker, and Jerry Linney.
Evelyn attended Port Henry High School; as a teen she worked at Myer’s Soda Shoppe in Myer’s Drug Store and graduated high school in 1948. Following high school, Evelyn was hired as a telephone operator working for the NY Telephone Co. until they started a family. When Benjamin was in 6th grade, Evelyn went to work as a lunch lady in the cafeteria for the Moriah Central School District. She loved her job, getting to know the kids by name. She worked there for 23 years and loved every minute of it.
She met Tiny while she was working at Myer’s; they became engaged after high school and were married on June 11, 1950. They raised five children Margaret Lanzo (Kevin) Frassrand, Mary Lanzo (Dave) Kosters, Patti Lanzo (Tom) Newhall, Cathy Lanzo (Bryan) Taylor, and Benjamin (Vicki) Lanzo.
Evelyn loved to bowl, golf and play cards. Most importantly, she loved to play Pinochle with her sisters. They would get together and play whenever they could. The sisters all loved to play pinochle and they all loved each other. Whenever they could go to a Casino, they would go as a group. Win or lose they always had a wonderful time.
Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband, her brother John, her sisters Regina and Vera.
Evelyn is survived by all of her children, her fifteen grandchildren, her three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family of Evelyn Lanzo would like to thank The Rubin Dialysis Center of Clifton Park for 17 years of excellent health care.
