Eugene “Gene” Dupuis, 89, a member of the "Greatest Generation," died peacefully on January 23, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on August 15, 1934, in Saco, Maine, the son of Eugene and Rose Bouffard Dupuis. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Mortar Man during the Korean War. After leaving the Marine Corp, he worked as an electrician in Local 164 in Jersey City, NJ. He served in the Army National Guard for 18 years while working as an electrician and then for the Jersey City Board Education. He was a life member of the VFW, and active in his community. He was kind, intelligent, caring, and talented. He was a dedicated public servant, unafraid to stand up for what he believed was right.
He is survived by his loving wife, Esther Dupuis (Donahue); daughters, Gale Roglitz (Roy), Debbie Troncone (Sabin), and Lynn Hayes (Michael); step-son, John Pat Callahan (Cheryl). 6 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2024, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM with Catholic Mass to follow at Harland's Funeral Home, 4279 South Main St., Port Henry, NY. Graveside military service will be in the Spring.
