Erwin E. Barber

Erwin E. Barber July 24, 1929 – December 8, 2021

Erwin Barber of Westport, passed away on December 8, 2021.  Erwin is survived by his Daughter and son-in-law Billie and Charles Marsh; Grandsons Christopher Cross and Adam & Wife Jennie Cross ; and Great Grandsons Dylan & Kolten Cross and Son-in–law Shorty Cross.  Erwin is also survived by his Sisters Jessie Sayre, Edith Hamilton & Ruth Barber and his Brother and Sister-in-Law Earl & Donna Barber and many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and out-laws.  Predeceasing Erwin are his Wife Joyce whom he has missed terribly; Daughter Betty Cross also sorely missed; Parents Edward & Ruth Barber; and Sister Jane Miller. 

Erwin wore many hats during his 92 years as he did not know what he wanted to be when he grew up.  His first job was working on the Barber Family farm. He knew he needed to be his own boss and moved his family to Stevenson Road to operate his own dairy farm and a part time Artificial Breeder.  One day, he decided he preferred running the equipment versus milking cows and started Lakeview Excavators; following his dream driving trucks and digging big holes.  After retiring Lakeview Excavators, He and Joyce partnered with family to build and manage a campground on the Barber Homestead Property.  Erwin spent the majority of his vacation time at the Homestead Lake Property with family and friends thus completing a full circle.  Throughout all this hat wearing, he was also a Volunteer Fireman and Town Councilman in Westport.  Erwin worked and played hard with his wife, Joyce, at his side.  Now they can both rest in peace as the team is back together. 

A church service will be held at the Westport Federated Church on Monday, December 13 at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Black River Cemetery.
